Last April we held the Family Business Asia Pacific Symposium 2019, in partnership with University of Western Australia and University of Nottingham Malaysia. It were four days of exchanging knowledge and experiences on the unique challenges faced by the family firms. We had a broad audience representing family business representatives, business advisors and academe. 

They came as far as Davao, Soccsksargenand Cavite! From the academe we had fellow professors from De la Salle University – Manila, University of Asia and the PacificThames International – Entrepreneurs School of Asia and St. Joseph Institute of Technology!We would like to praise our speakers for their presentations!  

We had eight paper presentations and four case presentations of speakers from institutions ranging from Asia and the Pacific representing Australia (Dr. Donella Caspersz); Indonesia (Dr. Linda Salim); Japan (Prof. Ryuji Konishi, Prof. Yoshiri Yamamura and Dr. Hikari Akizawa); Malaysia (Dr. Hazel Ramos and Mr. Michael Mustafa); the Philippines (Dr. Ginny Santiago, Dr. Shweta Pandey, Ms. Kristine Lobo and Mr. Jose Yupangco) and Europe, representing Belgium (Dr. Bart Henssen) and Italy (Prof. Salvatore Tomaselli)!  

Family Firms shared their stories and experiences on how to deal with family recruitment; dealing and adapting to the next generation and how to enhance the values of the firm. A warm thank to Ms. Maret Bautista (CLFG Capital Group) and Dr. Weevens Ty (Wellington Investment and Manufacturing Group). 

Family business advisors shared with us the power of coaching and play to build strong family bonding. A warm thank you to Ms. Theresa Ramos (Premier Family Business Consulting, Inc.) and Atty. Alex Cabrera (PwC Philippines) for sharing with us the Global Family Business Survey 2018!
